2011 Operation Holiday Bonanza
Who is ready for the Holidays? Well, we want our military families and their children to have an extra special holiday. Celebrate the Military Child, a Program of the SFC Jared C. Monti Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc., will be hosting an event to assist those military families and their children this Holiday Season. We will be assisting 100 military personnel and their children!!! We will see between 300 and 500 children whose parents will be “shopping” for the holidays.
Military members MUST complete THIS FORM and sign up for your free ticket at http://www.stayclassy.org/events/detail?eid=8370 in order to begin the qualification process. The tickets are for active duty, reserve, and national guard military members only. Sophie la Girafe or Sophie the Giraffe Themed Celebration
That’s right, Faith’s love for giraffes paid off. Faith contacted Sophie the Giraffe and asked them to donate a teething toy to each mom at the Inaugural SFC Jared C. Monti Celebration for expecting moms and newborns up to age six months. They kindly agreed and Faith decided that they entire theme needed to be designed around Sophie the Giraffe.
Sophie la Girafe, was born in Paris on May 25, 1961. That means she’s been a favorite teething toy for almost fifty years. She has an adorably charming retro style to her and she makes a soft squeak when squeezed. Her spots are food dye and completely safe.
The Inaugural SFC Jared C. Monti Baby Shower was amazing and although SFC Jared C. Monti had no children of his own loved them. Faith had one more request. That the event not just be for expecting mothers but for mothers with newborns up to the age of six months as well.
She went to work and her first call was to Marie from Sweets Indeed. Faith is entirely skilled at marketing phone calls and begging for donations but when it comes to aesthetically pleasing events she would trust none other than her good friend Marie who she met while working with Operation Shower. Marie is as lovely as she is talented. Faith wanted the event to be spectacular and knew that Marie had the skills to make it happen.
This shower would be extra special as it was in memory of SFC Jared C. Monti, the first Medal of Honor Recipient in Operation Enduring Freedom. If you haven’t read his story, you can watch it here. Jared’s legacy and his heroic braveness on that mountain in Afghanistan will live on forever. Not just through his four namesakes but through Celebrate the Military Child. Jared’s family joined us via Skype from North Carolina and most of the military moms found themselves in tears at the strength and courage of the Monti and Ross families. They portray this strength every day and to know them is to love them. You can watch a video of the shower below.
