Who is ready for the Holidays? Well, we want our military families and their children to have an extra special holiday. Celebrate the Military Child, a Program of the SFC Jared C. Monti Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc., will be hosting an event to assist those military families and their children this Holiday Season. We will be assisting 100 military personnel and their children!!! We will see between 300 and 500 children whose parents will be “shopping” for the holidays.

How to Enter the Sophie Giraffe Photo Contest

To Enter:

Send an email to Sophie’s Email along with your submitted photograph as an attachment (not to exceed 5 megabytes) in accordance with the instructions below.

Include the following information in your email:

1. Name
2. Address
3. Telephone number
4. Date of birth
5. Description of the photo submitted, including (1) a description of the photo (must be taken by a monument, place of interest of your town, city or State you reside), (2) location of photo, (3) date of photo, (4) other descriptive information, (5) a brief paragraph (50 words or less) of how Sophie Giraffe made a difference in your home or life.

All digital files must be 5 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG or .jpg format, and must be a t least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image)

Acceptable Changes:

Minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable. Hand tinting is acceptable, as is cropping. Fish-eye lenses are acceptable. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are acceptable only if the combined parts are all made around the same time. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close-up of another person’s art.

Combat Outpost Monti In Honor of SFC Jared C. Monti KIA 21 June 2006 Gowardesh, Afghanistan

However, we will not allow them to steal Jared’s spirit, nor we will allow them to spread hatred. We will remember and celebrate Jared’s life. Not today, but everyday. Jared will be remembered and not just by his four namesakes and their families but, also by the lives that he has touched that he never even met.

There is no greater testament to the man that Jared was and the life that he lived than the children and families that he has helped from beyond. Jared I know that you are watching over your family and especially your new little niece Jocelyn. She’s beautiful isn’t she? She’s already loved so much.

I’m going to smile today! If I shed a tear it will be from happiness and not sadness. I’m not going to just remember your heroism but your generosity and humanitarianism. Because to know you is to love you. To know you never wondered what was right or wrong, you just knew. To know you is to laugh. So, I’m going to laugh. I’m going to remember Courtney pronounced COT-ney. Yeah, I know that’s what you said.

You are missed. You will never be forgotten.

Bridge on Route 44 Dedicated to SFC Jared C. Monti

Mr. Monti and Jared use to go fishing under this bridge that crosses over the Taunton River on Route 44 near his home in Raynham. Now this very bridge bears his son’s name. The dedication ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon.
